MR. WILLEM A OLIVIER has been involved in the IT / Electronics industry since 1986 after completing his studies in electronics. He worked for companies such as Siemens, University of South Africa, Infoplan (DENEL), Siltek, Barclays Bank and is currently working for ContinuitySA. After working as a BCM consultant for three years, Willem joined the Barclays Bank Africa Regional Office in 2003 to head up their BCM division. Willem’s role in Barclays Africa & Middle East was to ensure their BCM programme was upgraded to a level that will comply with international Group standards and to ensure a BCM culture is embedded within the Barclays Africa & Middle East business.
In July 2008, Willem joined ContinuitySA as Managing Director for ContinuityAfrica and is responsible for all ContinuitySA’s businesses outside the borders of South Africa. Not only does this cover managing current businesses within Africa, but he is also driving the development of ContinuityAfrica within the African and Middle East market.
Willem has a comprehensive background in Business Continuity especially within the financial sector. He also has a MBCI obtained from the BCI and is in the process of obtaining his FBCI. Prior to his involvement in Business Continuity Management, Willem worked in the IT services industry and also developed software and electronic systems.
