Walter is passionate about mobile commerce and as a result has worked on a number of innovative enabling technologies like M-PESA, Roamware Macalla, Obopay, Tayana, Fundamo. Today Walter is Clickatell’s In-Country Director responsible for Clickatell’s expansion in Sub Sahara.
This involves the setting up of offices, engaging Telcos/MNOs/, managing regulatory issues with the
legal team on matters impacting Clickatell’s business, engaging clients and positioning Clickatell’s
Value Proposition.
Previously Walter worked for IBM South Africa and IBM East Africa where he held the position of
Client Solution Executive where he was involved in engaging C-level on ICT transformation and
technology directions, engaging businesses on the emerging trends in the technologies supporting targeted business sectors, positioning IBM as an ICT partner of choice to businesses, participating and presenting in various Industry conferences, symposiums and IBM driven events. Walter’s key support areas included FMCG, FSS, Telco, Parastatals and Governments.
Walter also worked in the following Telcos: TelkomSA – various technical roles; Vodacom SA – Mobile Commerce Manager engaging FSS sector primarily; Safaricom Kenya – HoD IT; Essar Telecom (YU) Kenya – HoD IT Planning and Rollout. Walter also worked as Snr Business Systems Manager for The Coca-Cola Company covering Sub-Sahara, Middle East, Cyprus and Pakistan
