Government and Industry Relations Manager
Ericsson Sub-Saharan Africa
Thabiso Thukani is the Government & Industry Relations Manager of Ericsson Region Sub-Saharan Africa. In this capacity, he is responsible for all matters relating to regulatory affairs, government policy and industry relations in the SADC region and East Africa. He also represents Ericsson in international information and communication technology organizations such as CRASA, CTO, ATU, ITU, etc.
Thabiso has represented Ericsson in a number of regulatory and policy submissions in sub-Saharan countries in Africa. Of current interest are decisions on spectrum for evolved and future mobile technologies, regulations for converging technologies (e.g. IPTV, VOD and VoIP), information society policies and trade policies that affect the communications industry.
His background is in Radio Access Planning and Optimisation for a number of cellular technologies and Transmission and Transport Network Planning. Before assuming the Regulatory Affairs role Thabiso worked in Network Solutions at Ericsson as a Solution Manager for GSM/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA networks.
Thabiso hold a National Diploma in Electronic Engineering from the Central University of Technology in SA, a Project Management Certificate from UNISA School of Business Leadership and Management Development Program Certificate from the University of Pretoria - Gordon Institute of Business Studies (GIBS). He has completed several technology programs from Ericsson, Tellabs, Alvarion, Cambridge Broadband etc.
