Oscar’s background is in Broadcasting. He worked for the BBC African Service, Swahili Section in Bush House London for six years from 1966.
In the early 70s he worked for the National Broadcaster, the then Voice of Kenya as Head of the English Service for eight years before moving to Postbank as the first Corporate Communications Manager when Post Office Savings were transformed into a Bank.
He is a prolific producer of Radio and Television Programmes. Some of the programmes he started are still running in Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. In his generation Oscar was also a popular and a well known radio and television Presenter and Newscaster.
In his illustrious career in the broadcast industry Oscar worked for three years as Communications Consultant for Africa with the International Satellite Corporation - the WorldSpace, with its headquarters in Washington DC.
Oscar is an alumni of New House School of Public Communications, Syracuse University, Up State New York, as one of the recipients of special Broadcast Scholarships awarded to 36 broadcasters from around the world during the Commemoration of the Bicentennial Celebrations of the United States of America. During this programme Oscar was able to work in Commercial and Public Radio Stations in San Franscisco, Chicago, New Orleans, Washington DC and New York City.
In 1994 Oscar founded African Broadcast Network, ABN a regional Non Governmental Organisation committed to the enhancement of broadcast standards in Africa with the vision to foster development through communications. Through radio and television ABN has tackled many issues that are of concern to Africa including Gender, HIV/AIDS,
Poverty, Environment, Governance, Education, Water and Sanitation, Health among others.
Oscar has made enormous contribution many national and regional organizations as Media Advisor, including Kenya Scouts Association, School Boards, World Organisation of Scout Movement and is currently Africa representative on the International Board of Directors of the World Youth Allience headquartered in New York.
Oscar is the recipient of a Presidential Award Silver Star of Kenya.
Oscar Beauttah is the Founding Executive Director, African Broadcasting Network, ABN, key supporter of the 1st Africa Broadcast, Film, Convergence and Exhibition Conference.
