Mukhula Were is the Managing Director of East Africa Documentary Network. EADN is a team of producers and writers started in 2010 to nurture discerning East African filmmakers to create fearless entertaining documentaries. The team has gone further to partner with cultural centres in Nairobi to cultivate audience facilitated sessions through screening documentaries in a program dubbed UC-DC: Urban Community - Documentary Cinema. Some of the creative members in the team include Musyoki Mutua, Hansen Kinairu, Robert Lutta, Grace Irungu, Jacquelene Njeri, Camillius Juniour and Joseph Njata among others.
One of the crucial projects EADN has done is a research on Documentary Filmmaking in East Africa commissioned by the Seven production which analyses local content development by studying the gap between independent filmmakers and broadcasters in the context of the documentary genre.
Our vision is to build a positive progressive film culture in East Africa by 2018 while our mission is to create and screen social transformative documentaries across major East African cities. Our Aim is to build research on African stories while our objective is to learn through international film apprenticeship.
