Michael Ugwu, a graduate of University College London, joined iROKO Partners in August 2011. For several years, he worked in Financial Services in the UK and Nigeria before joining iROKO Partners to build the iROKING music business. Michael oversees a team of 20 staff spread between the Lagos and London offices.
iROKING is successfully re organising Nigerian music distribution via iROKING.com, Youtube, iTUNES and Amazon. In less than 9 months Michael has grown the business to 70+ managed Youtube channels, delivering on average 15 million video views a month.
Michael has overseen the iROKING content acquisition effort, signing 50 of Nigeria's biggest artists to landmark digital distribution deals, as well as deployment of the iROKING web and mobile applications to date delivering 100,000+ audio streams daily.
iROKING has no peer in the battle against piracy and renumeration of music artists on the continent, using its global reach and resources to protect content and deliver value.
