Beginning in 1968 with the release of An Evening in Paris, Manu Savani was the pioneering first distributors who imported Indian films to the United States, Canada and Latin America.  He developed these markets by releasing landmark movies like Aradhana, Ram aur Shyam, Love In Tokyo, Haathi Mere Saathi, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Seeta Aur Geeta, Mother India, Disco Dancer, Waqt, Tere Mere Sapne, Abhimaan,  Patthar Ke Sanam, The Great Gambler, Mere Mehboob, Aan Milo Sajna, Dharam Veer etc..

In the late 1970s, Manu expanded his horizons by introducing independent Hollywood films to emerging markets in East Africa, West Africa, Pacific Islands, and West Indies.

In the mid 1980s, upon India’s liberalization of the importation of Hollywood films, Manu  was a pioneer in exporting independent American motion pictures to India.

By the 1990s, Manu began working closely with the American Film Marketing Association (AFMA) as a consultant on India. For a number of years Manu also became an exclusive agent for Twentieth Century Fox products for East Africa.

Today, Manu Savani’s company Gala Global  is a leading buyer and seller of American, Far Eastern and Indian films for theatrical, television, and video in all format markets in Asia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Caribbean, and the Pacific Islands.

Gala Global is also representing exclusive copyright holders of a library of hundreds of classic Indian films from the 1950’s and thereafter.  Manu’s library of other feature films and programs include movies such as AFRICA UNITED, LOST IN AFRICA, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (Animation), STREET DANCE 3-D, D-WAR, THE HOST many well known action and kung fu films. The internationally acclaimed full length documentary  BARACK OBAMA: THE MAN AND HIS JOURNEY is also represented by Manu for most of the English speaking Africa.

Early this year Manu promoted the US and international release of a Telugu language historic epic, "Rajanna," starring Telugu superstar Nagarjuna, on behalf of Annapurna Studios, Hyderabad.

Manu Savani was elected to the Board of International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (The Emmy Awards) and is a Board Member of the Belize International Film Festival in Belize (Central America).

Manu is now concentrating on the emerging and already thriving African markets with feature films and programs whether they be religious, entertaining or football oriented.
