Lukas Wellen has 10 years of experience in microfinance in advisory and management roles, with extensive field experience in Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia.
Lukas studied Macro Economics in Amsterdam and South Africa. His master-thesis was awarded the annual university prize. After he graduated, Lukas worked for the Rabobank risk department. Besides setting country limits, he was Secretary of the Country Limit Committee.
After Rabobank, he worked for ProCredit Bank in Albania and Bosnia. He set up branches in Mostar and Brcko and performed an audit in Kosovo. Lukas also worked for ProCredit Ukraine, followed by three years in Vietnam where he was responsible for three microfinance programmes. From 2006-2008 Lukas worked for Triple Jump, delivering technical assistance to MFIs in the Caucasus and Africa. Since end 2007, Lukas works on mobile banking in East Africa, nowadays as CEO of Musoni. Finally, Lukas served on MFI-boards in Cambodia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
