After obtaining his BA Hons and B Ed degrees at the University of Natal, John taught for nine years at Hilton College. Moving into industry, John held senior management positions at Pilkington Glass, the Everite Group and finally Sasol. After ten years at Sasol, John ran his own business consulting in HR Development before becoming a partner and director of PLATO Southern Africa.
John has been very involved in education despite not always being in the classroom. He served on the training committee of Business South Africa and the Executive Committee of the Gauteng Education Forum. He was a founder Board member of the Chemical, Oil and Allied Industries Training Board and served as a Trustee of the Joint Education Trust. He was also a Member of Council for the Technikon Witwatersrand for nine years until it merged with Rand Afrikaans University to form the University of Johannesburg.
As a Director of PLATO Southern Africa, John interacts with government departments, educational institutions and companies at all levels and is passionate about blended learning using technology as a delivery mechanism.
John has been a member of the Rotary Club of Bedfordview for nine years and is also a Past President.
