Edgar Andagalu is Head of Ecobank Mobile – the mobile banking channel for Ecobank Group. Ecobank has fully fledged banking operations in 30 African countries and the bank is in the process of deploying the mobile channel across all affiliates. Edgar is leading this process with deployment currently underway in Chad, Congo (Brazzaville), Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Niger, Sierra Leone and Zambia. The service has already been deployed in Ghana and Nigeria.
Prior to joining Ecobank, Edgar worked with Safaricom’s M-PESA for four years in business development with specific focus on partnerships with financial institutions and developmental organizations. Key implementations he did while at M-PESA are the delivery of food subsidy disbursement programme among urban poor in partnership with two international NGOs; and developing a means through which banks would integrate M-PESA services into their mobile banking offering.
