• Holds Batchelors and Masters degrees in electrical engineers from university of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, S.Africa
• He has been working in the telecommunications industry for the past 12 years, starting out in VSAT network design and then moving to GSM mobile network planning.
• Bayan has been with Celtel/Zain for the past 9 years. He  joined the company in Oct 2000 as a Radio Planning Engineer, and travelled extensively in the Africa operations, working on network design and quality optimization. He later moved up to head the Radio Network Planning function for the Celtel Group, and in 2007 moved to Kenya as CTO of the then Celtel Kenya, now Zain Kenya. Since April 2009, he has been Technical Director for East Africa region.
• Bayan has worked in many countries on project basis, including Zambia, Tanzania, DRC, Gabon, Congo B, Chad, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Kenya. Residing in 4 different countries while working for Celtel/Zain; South Africa, DRC, Netherlands, and of course Kenya
• He lives with his family that is his wife and 2 small kids who are pre-school age.
