André Stelzner was one of the Directors in the City of Cape Town responsible for the initial implementation of its SAP-ERP system in 2002 and currently manages the City’s ERP Competency Centre.
The City of Cape Town SAP-ERP system is considered by SAP one of the largest SAP implementations in Local Government in the world.
In 2004 the City received international recognition for its SAP-ERP programme when it won the prestigious Computer World Honours 21st Century Achievement Award for its visionary use of Information Technology in the category for Government and Non-profit Organisations.
Since the go-live of the final phase of the program in September 2003 he has managed the city’s ERP Support Centre which provides business/application support to the more than 7000 system users and helps realise business value through the city’s SAP-ERP system.
Mr Stelzner graduated as a Civil Engineer at the University of Cape Town in 1986. He has spent much of his professional live working as a municipal engineer, but made the move to IT to pursue his interests in the use of technology to transform organisations. Through first hand experience in change management and diverse background in city operations he has been able to ensured that the ERP system, continues to support service delivery objectives and enables business transformation in Local Government.
