Over 50 broadcast and film experts to share knowledge at Nairobi conference

The first African Broadcast & Film Conference, to be held in Nairobi over 23-25 September, will feature over 50 local and international experts who will make presentations over three days. The event is being organised by AITEC Africa and held under the auspices of the Ministry of Information and Communications. The conference is being organised by AITEC Africa.

The impressive line-up of over 50 speakers includes some of the continent’s leading lights in broadcasting and film-making from countries as far afield as South Africa, Nigeria, UK, France, Ghana, Senegal, France, Qatar, USA, Tanzania, Belgium and Rwanda.

Announcing the speaker line-up, Sean Moroney, Chairman of AITEC Africa, claimed that there had never been an equivalent level of broadcast and film expertise assembled at an African conference. “We are very proud of the unprecedented gathering of experts we will be hosting in Nairobi. We are confident they will attract broadcasters and film-makers to attend the event from throughout Africa, and we expect over 200 delegates. We hope the conference will serve to stimulate new levels and professionalism and innovation in broadcasting and film production and marketing in Africa.”

Moroney highlighted some of the international speakers like Neil Watson of the UK Film Council and Lucy Scher, Director of the Script Factory in the UK, who in addition to doing a presentation in the conference will conduct a full-day training workshop on script-writing following the conference.

The conference programme director is Russell Southwood, head of Balancing Act in the UK, who will also lead a training workshop at the end of the conference on “Living with fragmenting media – the twin pressures of competition and technology”.

The event includes an exhibition of latest technologies and services in the sector.
