AITEC West Africa ICT Summit 2012
15-16 August 2012
Incorporating the 1st Ghana Consumer Electronics & Mobile Technology Expo
Introduction West African enterprises can no longer complain about lack of international bandwidth. The region is fully integrated into the world market via plentiful undersea and satellite connections. But it still has a long way to go to realise the economic benefits that should derive from this new era of connectivity and innovation. ICT ROI is sadly lacking at government, corporate, national and regional levels. The Summit will provide an ideal opportunity for the region’s ICT policy-makers, regulators, managers and professionals to assess the impact of this new paradigm on their countries and organisations and what are the optimum strategies and technologies they should deploy to maximise the benefits. In addition, the exhibition will provide a platform for local innovators and developers to promote and launch their new and improved ICT products and services to decision-makers in government and business, alongside leading international ICT vendors, thus creating a diverse and rich ICT marketplace.
Who should exhibit? The expo is a showcase for Information and Communication Technology products and services and therefore invites all companies involved in this sector. These will include Telecommunication Service Providers, Mobile Phone Operators, Computer Hardware Resellers, Computer Accessories Suppliers, Software Developers, Web Solutions Developers, Systems Integrators, ICT Consultants, Training, Internet Service Providers, Data Operators, Communication Equipment Resellers and ICT Projects and Programmes.
Promotion The Expo and Conference will be promoted through the media as a high-quality business-to-business event. In addition to an umbrella promotion campaign, invitations will be addressed to individuals in all sectors, using established mailing lists and through working with trade and professional associations across the region.
The Summit audience The event will have several key audiences: • ICT managers & professionals • Policy-makers • High-level managers at CEO, COO and CFO level • Innovators and service providers • Telecom operators and service providers • NGOs/civil society organisations • Media representatives
Evaluation and Outputs There will be several outputs from the event: • Increased knowledge among ICT managers and ICT professionals in the ICT sector of latest international trends and technologies and their application in the region. • Increased awareness among high-level non-technical managers in the sector of the vital role ICT has to play in their business strategies – and the range of technologies and systems available. • Informed media coverage that will help build a profile for the issues under discussion. • Broker relationships between suppliers and users of ICT systems.
